November Favorites

Monday, November 30, 2015

This month was all about the beauty scene and quality over quantity. In fact, I think the months I don't have a bunch of favorites are better because you know the ones that made it are worthy.

So, here we go:

I tried Borghese products for the first time this month and it's safe to say that although on the higher end budget wise, the brand has the WDAC seal of approval. I've been obsessed with both this lipstick* in Grappa and this shadow palette*; the colors in the palette are super pigmented and shimmery and the staying power is incredible. The lipstick is as well, the only downside being it sometimes makes its way onto your chin. (Or maybe that's just a me problem. Help?)

Speaking of lips, I've been using my Rimmel Moisture Renew transparent lipliner like crazy this month. It's basically an essential for your fall/ winter lip routine, after all.

I also decided to try elf's lip exfoliator since it's pretty much the Sahara up there this time of year. You just put it on like normal lipstick and kinda roll it around. (don't worry, it's clear) Leave it on for a sec, wipe it off, and voila.

My monthly polish favorite is Essie's Matte About You, which has been loved for ages but for some reason I never owned it. Now that I do I see the hype... it makes any color turn into a pretty matte finish.

Non Beauty

Okay so I've been reading You Deserve a Drink since July. I know. And it's not that it's not good (it is on this list, isn't it?) but sometimes life just makes me a slow reader. But now I'm thisclose to finishing it and I kinda don't want to. Because, girl's hilarious. That wasn't news to me or anything, but if it's possible I love her even more. The entire book I've read in her hilarious, dirty joke, pun-making, pop culture referencing voice because she's just. that. good.

I've been listening to Ellie Goulding's third and newest album Delirium all month long. I actually don't have proper words for it. It's.... celestial. Yeah. That's it.

If I'm being real, I wasn't super hyped up about Adele's return like everyone else was. Don't get me wrong, girl's incredibly talented. I guess I just wasn't into it, or maybe I got used to just hearing her old stuff. But. She proved me so, so wrong with Hello. I haven't had a chance to listen to 25 yet, but I'm sure the entirety of the album is up to par. I guess I'm on that Adele train after all....

(It looks like it's the ladies killin it..... what's new.)

What favorites did you discover this November? Any oldie-but-goodies you've been usin' up? TELL ME.

Link Love || 11.27.15

Friday, November 27, 2015

Happy Friday! Now that we've stuffed ourselves with pie and it's officially the holiday season (!!!) it's all the more reason to stay in and catch up on your favorite blogs and online shop.

Or ya know, kill your feet in the name of sales. To each her own.

Anyway, here's some links I've been loving for your weekend reading material:

+ Chelsea's thoughts posts are my favorite.

+ Somehow I'm all six of these Target shoppers at the same time.

+ I've got Rebecca's list bookmarked for when I'm feeling uninspired.

+ Doing all of these good things asap.

+ Team LC's gotcha covered on the best Black Friday/ Cyber Monday deals!

Speaking of, what's your take on the whole black Friday madness? Are you more of a cyber deal kinda person? Or do you not care either way?

I've never been big on it, but working retail has solidified my opinion.... I'd rather be asleep.

Borghese ReAffirm Day Fluide

Friday, November 20, 2015

Y'all know I'm all about simplicity when it comes to skincare. I like easy, but I've also been playing up my routine a bit lately, since your skin gets bored sooo easily. (I don't actually know if it does, just go with it)

Which is why I've been digging Hydrology by Borghese's day fluide lately.

I'd heard of Borghese before but hadn't had any experience with their products, and this was the perfect first impression.

This is a moisturizer that feels soft and light on the skin plus contains SPF 15, a must for the face. It's also got IQ3 complex and although I'm not totally sure what that is (and google was no help) it apparently helps with anti-aging, which is nice no matter your age.

It's perfect for first thing in the morning after cleansing, as it's super refreshing and the formula creates a flawless base for makeup or the rest of your skincare routine.

If you're looking for light and hydrating, this stuff's gotcha covered.

What about you? Are you a regular Borghese-er? Tell me your favorite moisturizers!

From My Kitchen to Yours | T. Swift's Yummy Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Wednesday, November 18, 2015

Over the weekend, a tiny miracle happened.

I baked.

I baked cookies to be exact. But not just any cookies: pumpkin chocolate chip ones.

If you know anything about me, you should know that I pretty much trust anything Taylor Swift says, so obviously I knew the recipe I had been wanting to try for forever would be amazing. However, could I make it amazing?

I was feeling a little iffy, but daring.

The only variation of this recipe that I (and Taylor) made was that instead of regular chips, I used Baker's chocolate bars and cut them (I found using a serrated knife works best) into various sizes.

After twenty minutes of agony, it was time for the verdict. Were they perfect little pinterest worthy circles? Not even close. But were they good? So good. I breathed a heavy sigh of relief and proceeded to eat an entire dozen.

Okay. Maybe just half a dozen. (If you plan on making these for Thanksgiving plan on making lotsa extras)

Have you ever made these gooey gems?

Ember

Monday, November 16, 2015

Today's post was going to be casual and light, but then Friday happened, and light still just doesn't feel right.

I was angry. I still am. How do you have hope when it seems like the last ember has gone out?

I'm not sure. But I do know that it's somewhere in the darkness and madness if you search a little deeper.

Somewhere in the midst of it all, the embers are there.

Music for the Weekend | Delirium

Friday, November 13, 2015

Last week Ellie Goulding's new album Delirium was released and y'all.

I feel like I've been saying this a lot lately, but it's one of the best new releases I've heard recently.

It's reminiscent of Halcyon, with electronic pop feels. But, it's also a fresh sound and every track seems to add something to the whole.

A few of my top picks?

// Army (A bit of a power anthem)
// Codes (A pop-y beat)
// Around U (A bit of a dance anthem with a chorus to match)
// Love Me Like You Do (Has new meaning ever since this)

Listen to the whole album here.

How do you feel about Delirium? Tell me your favorite songs on it!

WDAC's Women of the Year

Wednesday, November 11, 2015

On Monday night, Glamour magazine held their annual Women of the Year awards, honoring entertainers, athletes, and other leaders who have been of inspiration throughout the year.

Which, of course, has inspired me to make With Dignity + Coffee's own little list of WOTY.

Ready?

And the awards go to..............

She's known for her outspoken take on feminism and take-no BS attitude, and it's beautiful. She speaks with grace and passion and stands for every woman. Quite possibly my favorite thing that's happened for her this year is getting her own Barbie doll. Every little girl needs representation.

I've followed Sophia since the OTH days and she continues to be a force of nature. She's always using social media to raise interest and awareness of important issues and organizations and is an active voice in those communities. Brooke Davis would be proud.

I know. I literally cannot go five seconds without throwing something about Taylor Swift in to everything. I'm sorry.  She's just everything.

Have I gushed enough lately about Rowan? The girl is fourteen and yet so eloquent, passionate, and everything that makes a WDAC girl.

My mom
The older I get, the more I realize how much I'm like her and that's something I didn't know I needed.

My grandmother
She was a fiery golden ember.

Now that I'm done trying to sound like some sort of deep poet, tell me your WOTY nominees!

Boots & Blue

Monday, November 9, 2015

My love affair with denim has been going on for quite some time, so it was about time that I added the perfect little dress to my wardrobe.

It's light and soft and airy, the only downside being it wrinkles easily. (Even though it calls itself wrinkle resistant) But, other than the wrinkle situation, this baby is a gem.

Two of my favorite ways to wear it are belted or with a flannel tied at the waist. A floppy hat is the perfect accessory and cowboy boots are my go-to for this look, but any kinda boot will do.

This is such a cute casual outfit but it can easily be dressed up too!

Flannel | f 21
Hat | f 21
Bag | Mossimo

Four things to Do When You're Sick

Friday, November 6, 2015

As I write this I'm sitting on the couch breathing through my mouth and trying to stay alive. So glam.

Although curling up with netflix does make things a little less painful, being sick is never ideal. You've got things to do, places to go, but you're stuck. Luckily, there's a few things you can do (besides wallow) to pass the time a bit:

Yoga
I know, I know. The last thing you want to do when you don't feel well is lots of twisty turns and poses. But there are lots of gentle routines you can do that will make you feel so much better. This is my favorite.

Catch up on your reading.
It usually takes me either five days or five months to finish a book, so any downtime is useful.

Do some online shopping.
Just don't fall down the rabbit hole. It's easier to do than it looks.

Drink all the tea.
Mix in some honey and you'll be good to go in no time. Or one can only hope.

How do you make yourself feel better?

Bits + Baubles || Realness

Wednesday, November 4, 2015

{Karen Smith + a dog}

Oh hi hello.

I realized it's been 20 years since I've done one of these posts (or maybe it's been more like two months. Technicalities.) which was a plus for me because to be honest, I had no idea what today's post should be.

{denim on denim}

There's a certain stigma in parts of the blogging world when it comes to getting real on your blog. In the age of social media and goals, there always seems to be the question of how much is too much? How real is too real?

When my grandmother passed away (semi) unexpectedly last week, I debated not posting anything about it on social media or on here for many reasons. It was too real, too raw, too unpretty.

But, as the harrowing scenes of every teen drama (not to mention real life, am I right) taught us, the world isn't always pretty. Life happens, and you can choose to ignore it and hide behind perfectly posed photos, or you can face it. I choose to always face it.

On a lighter note, how was your Halloween? Mine consisted of this episode of Boy Meets World and yummy candy. And now it's Christmas.

Also: Tell me your fave no ish keep it real bloggers. Mine are Lauryn & Helene.....

Uniform

Monday, November 2, 2015

(AKA how many different ways can I look down dramatically)

This is pretty much my October- January uniform: button down, tights, a skirt, and boots.

Sometimes I'll even get crazy and change the skirt up with leggings. #wild

Anyway, I really dig the look of a printed skirt with a plain colored top. It balances things out a bit and adds a festive feel.
