IT'S THIRTEEN DAYS INTO THE MONTH AND HERE'S WHAT I'VE BOUGHT SO FAR

Forever 21 Floral Shift Dress

Let's call it the midsummer shopping itch. It's most definitely something I just made up as I sit in this coffee shop, but whatever. Go with it, shall we? I've gone a little 'add to cart' happy and obviously I'm sharing it with you because lol I'm horrible and want you to also buy the things. BECAUSE THEY'RE CUTE, OKAY?

WHY I BEG TO DIFFER THAT BLOGGING IS DYING

Why I Don't Think Blogging Is Dying

It seems the good ole blogosphere has been split down the middle the past year or so, as there has been an increasing number of so called instagram blogs and less actual blogs. We're a want it now society, anything more than a screenshot to get clothing details emailed seeming like a daunting task. Reading 300+ words? No thank you. So the question causing debates all around: is the art of blogging dying?

A HINT OF ROSE GOLD | TIPS FOR TINTING

Tips For Rose Gold Tint

Experimenting with my hair is the same as experimenting with clothes for me: a creative way of expressing how I'm feeling, the ~aesthetic~, if you will. (yes I do use that word too much, no I won't stop) I've always wanted to try out a fun color, but actually dyeing it lavender or rose gold is a commitment I'm never sure about. My only tousle with pink dye was one summer with my cousins, streaking the fronts hoping to get an Aria Montgomery pre missing Alison look, but just ended up looking like I had a bit too much fun in the dye. We live, we learn.

THINGS TO HAVE CONTROL OVER IN A WORLD OF NO CONTROL

Friday, July 6, 2018

Over the years the realization has hit  that a huge anxiety trigger for me is feeling out of control. We've chatted about this before, but I joke about it a lot because, oooh the irony. What do we really have control over in life? Not the way people perceive us or the change in the weather or why we just got cut off on the freeway.

Being An American In 2018

I was always taught to be proud of where you're from, and so from the time I was old enough to understand, I had a certain appreciation for America. Sophomore year of high school we dug deep into Ellis Island and the rich history of culture. It wasn't the first time I'd learned about it, of course, but the first time I truly understood. Everyone who docked onto the Island was coming here in search of a better life, the American dream. The textbooks don't always teach the not so pretty side of our history, however, nor the present.

JUNE IN PHOTOS

Friday, June 29, 2018

Hi hi, welcome to a new & improved version of bits & baubles. I've revamped this so many times you probably don't even remember what it started out as. I barely even remember. Anyway, you've seen most of these photos on my insta, but I thought I'd collect them all here.

THIS IS TWENTY FOUR.

Birthdays

While looking at my previous birthday posts for a bit of ~inspiration~, I came across the one dated June 26th, 2014. My twentieth birthday.

WHY MILLENNIALS ARE SO OBSESSED WITH NOSTALGIA

Monday, June 25, 2018

It was a hot June afternoon, the sun blazing through the windows of my Jeep and the notes of an old Dashboard Confessional song humming via spotify. A moment worth snapping a mental photo of- complete stillness, bliss, nostalgia. It seems to happen frequently- possibly because I have an entire playlist dedicated to what I’ve dubbed ‘throwback songs’ & often find myself thinking about days past, a sense of longing to follow.

EMPATHY

{via}

I wasn't going to post at all today, because life happened and I'm sure y'all didn't wanna hear about 'stepping back' and the usual crap us bloggers say when feel the guilt from skipping a day (the guilt is a thing, people) but I've got something important.

WHAT I'VE LEARNED FROM GOING MAKEUP FREE

Going Makeup Free

A few months ago, I made a commitment to give my face a break & go makeup free at least once a week. Of course, this is not including the brows, because the brows must always be done.

I digress.

A LOOK INTO THE COMPLEXITY OF SWIMWEAR SHOPPING

A Look Into The Complexity Of Swimwear Shopping

“Do you think a woman has ever gone swimsuit shopping without wanting to cry?” My friend’s words floated through our group chat and landed with a solid ‘amen.’ If there was ever an activity that evoked such strong emotion, it’s shopping for swimwear.

The Summer Playlist Of Your Dreams

Does this even need an introduction?

THERE IS AN AFTER.

Friday, June 8, 2018

The events of this Tuesday have led me to reading many stories of women acquiring their very first Kate Spade. How something so simple rocked their little world, making them feel empowered, feminine, grown up.

THE DO'S AND DONT'S OF SELF TAN

Wednesday, June 6, 2018

The Dos And Dont't Of Self Tan
Summer Shift Dress

Ah, the self tan. It’s a love/ hate relationship, most of my high school years watching everyone around me tan ~naturally~ so easily, while I was out getting burnt to a good crisp after approximately two hours of sun. So unfair, I’d think, and so I’d turn to my new BFF, the ‘fake n bake’ as it was affectionately called. But you see, the relationship didn’t really work it. It was messy, streaky, and a certain shade of orange I had previously only seen on Ross Geller when he counted in Mississippi’s during a spray tan.

The Importance Of Alone Time

If you’re a fellow introvert, I’m sure you’re well acquainted with alone time. It’s how we recharge, getting the best version of ourselves ready for the world.

HOW I MOTIVATE MYSELF TO WORK OUT

How To Stay Motivated To Work Out

Unrealistic thought I continue to have no matter how much I’m proved wrong: once you get a workout routine going, you’ll always be ready to go first thing in the morning/ evening/ whenever your preferred time is. You’ll be up & at ‘em, much like Monica when she was trying to get Chandler to run with her.

TWO ESSENTIAL SUMMER PIECES

Monday, May 21, 2018

Crop Top & Denim Skirt

I found this quintessential crop + denim skirt pairing in a forever 21 recently, (how am I not a walking ad at this point) & I knew I had to have it. It screamed summer, cherry cola, and vintage vibes and it was love at first sight.

SIGNS YOU'RE HEADED FOR A BURNOUT

Signs You Need A Break

It’s such a blogger thing to do to address when you miss a day’s post, or you go on a mini break, or basically break your normal blogging cycle at all. It’s a cliche that I’m TOTALLY DOING, SUE ME. It’s important to not ignore the signs of a burnout, or of just needing a break. It's still hard for me to admit sometimes that I NEED a break.

SOME WEEKEND READING MATERIAL (AKA RECENT POSTS YOU MAY HAVE MISSED)

Doing something the slightest bit different today, & bringing you a roundup of some of my latest posts, because I've been absolutely terrible about promoting them lately. Even bloggers have off days, okay?

THE FACE MASK YOU NEED TO ADD TO YOUR ROUTINE

Wednesday, May 9, 2018

The Face Mask You Need

Today we’re talking FACE MASKS, specifically the overnight kind. I didn’t know the difference between an overnight mask & a regular one, and I thought the former was a bit unnecessary. However, after researching and actually testing out this overnight thing, I’ll have to retract that statement, thank you v much.

MOTHER'S DAY GIFT IDEAS

Wednesday, May 2, 2018

This one's gonna be short & sweet-- MOTHER'S DAY GIFTS. I feel like every year I get my mom a variation of the same thing; jewelry, gift cards, pampering kit, etc, but those things have become favorites to her.

SHEIN TIPS + THE CUTEST FLUTTER SLEEVE DRESS

Tips For Shopping Shein
SheIn Flutter Sleeve Dress

Out of all the ‘cheap’ clothing websites, I’ve found shein to be the most reliable. The website is shoppable and for the most part the clothes are a win. (like this cutie of a flutter sleeve number for less than $15) Of course there are some negatives, as with any shop, but if you know how to navigate things you can come away happy most every time.

THE TRUTH ABOUT LIVING WITH PMDD

Friday, April 27, 2018

Living With PMDD

This post is a long time coming, as I've thought doing a thinkpiece/ documentation/ 'you're not alone'/ whatever the dippy-do you'd like to call it on this disorder for awhile, but I didn't know if it was too 'personal.' There's an odd sort of taboo that still goes on around periods & all that comes with them, including period related disorders. I think it’s amazing that endometriosis has been having its spotlight lately, as it should. The more we talk about these things, the less of a stigma there is. Living with an invisible illness can be a strange feeling, because it's invisible. If you don't already know the person has it, you won't know.

THOUGHT PIECE: With Dignity & Coffee

Something I’m often caught deep in thought about (yeah, we’re getting right into the dramz today) is social media and the effect it, along with society in general, has on young women, namely teenagers. The latest pop of thoughts stemmed from Chloe’s post on how Instagram beauty trends aren’t real life & this gem of a tumblr post

PLAYLIST VOL. ONE | SPRING 2018

Friday, April 13, 2018

Spring 2018 Playlist | Spotify

I know all the ‘blog rules’ say quality over quantity, and not to post just to post but when have I ever been a rule follower? (JK, I actually follow the rules a lot but when it comes to blogging? eh)

Anyway, I’ve got a kickass playlist to share anyway so SCREW THE RULES. What are blogging rules anyway, and we do we think we have to follow them? Hmm, a post for another day? Maybe.

Jord Frankie Series Wooden Watch
Jord Wooden Watch | Watches For Women

Growing up I wasn't a huge watch fan, (even though high school was filled with fossil & Michael Kors) but once I got to college and into my twenties I realized just how much of a necessity it is. &, if you choose the right one, it can be the perfect every day accessory, which is where Jord watches come in

THE BEST ECZEMA PRODUCTS

Eczema Skincare Products

A few years back I wrote a post highlighting the products I used for my eczema, but that’s changed since then, as well as my blogging skills thank you very much.

Having literally come out of the womb with the skin condition tearing it’s ugly head, I’ve had twenty three years of trial & error, trying to combat flare ups and deal with the itchiness that makes you wanna scream.
