WHAT MY WEEK LONG SPENDING DIARY LOOKS LIKE

What My Week Long Spending Diary Looks Like

After reading Hannah's post, I was intrigued by the idea of blogging a spending diary. Each month I have a budget spread in my bullet journal, where I'm to keep track of every purchase. & yet, I'll be the first to admit I'm not the greatest at it. Is it the matter of simply getting the information from the receipt to the page, or is it something deeper, my subconscious yelling 'Ignorance is bliss, ignorance is bliss!'

DAY ONE- SUNDAY:
On Sundays I most definitely almost always get a coffee on the way home from church (I drive ~right by~ the starbucks. It's fate) & today is no different. $4.28 spent on an iced white mocha, regular instead of decaf this time because lol I've got things to do. I don’t spend anything else the rest of the day, hurrah!

DAY TWO- MONDAY:
I needed a few things so I popped on over to target after work and came out with... not everything I needed (however, the carton of iced PSL was v much needed, thank you) & still $54.39 less than what I started with. I pay $5 in cash and the rest on my card, because I do this weird thing where I try & trick my brain into thinking I actually spent less. I don’t think it works.

DAY THREE- TUESDAY:
I've been bringing my lunch to work in an attempt to be both ~healthy~ (ugh) & spend less, so I thought I would get away with not spending anything today, but alas my plan was foiled when I decided to have an evening browse on the martie website & grab this cutie feminist tee. Goodbye $27. 48.

DAY FOUR- WEDNESDAY:
$1.75 spent on a sweet tea from chick fil a, (always worth every penny) & $30 more for a half hour phone session with my therapist (because sometimes that’s what ya gotta do when you work full time) and lol that’s enough spending for the day.

DAY FIVE- THURSDAY:
I order a Domino's for dinner because it's a fend for yourself night & it's been a hot minute and 'treat yourself' has gotten in my head AND I NEED THIS PIZZA. $12.71 + the $3 tip. (I never know what you're supposed to tip the delivery people. Am I tipping enough? Too low? I have serious anxiety about this. I never want to be one of ~those~ people)

DAY SIX- FRIDAY:
I have the worst headache today so I spend a whopping 70 cents in the work vending machine for a dr. pepper. It doesn’t help my head much, but it gets me through the rest of the day. I end up going to urgent care later because sinus infections are a bitch & so are $35 co-pays.

DAY SEVEN- SATURDAY:
The day is spent vegging out & trying not to die of the germs, so on the last day of this diary I have spent exactly $0.00. Unusual but quite a good feeling, if I say so myself. Though I did have a look see on asos, but I saved it for later. Meaning probably tomorrow, let's be real.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Not that I should be surprised, but I didn't realize how much of my money went towards food & coffee. (& I didn't even go out with friends this week) This was actually a relatively calm week as far as starbucks goes, with only one trip in the books. (v proud, thank you) The urgent care stint was unexpected & my bank account wasn't a fan, but it was necessary.

I like that this forced me to write things down instead of lol oops forgetting about it. I can't speak for all millennials, but I think I have the tendency to not want to track everything I spend, even though I know I should, because it brings anxiety. Budgeting brings anxiety. Pretty much anything having to do with money brings OMG YIKES I NEED TO LIVE OFF RAMEN AGAIN sort of anxiety.

Is this what being a ~real adult~ is?
